Samsung is expected to announce the new Galaxy S8 and S8+ during a special event on March 29, but information about the new Galaxy S phone continues to surface at a daily basis. The latest regards the phone’s performance in benchmark tests.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ went through Geekbench tests recently and recorded impressive scores with their Snapdragon 835 platforms, as well as Exynos 8895 on the larger model. AnTuTu is another reference benchmark test and the new Samsung phone aced this one too.
A video posted on Vimeo shows the Galaxy S8 with Snapdragon 835 platform running AnTuTu tests, according to a report. The phone’s model number is visible, SM-G950, and the video shows the device going through various graphics and processor intensive tests.
Galaxy S8 recorded higher scores than other flagships
The results are quite impressive for Samsung’s upcoming flagship. The Galaxy S8 managed to record a score of 205,284, higher than the previous no 1 the iPhone 7 Plus with 181,807 and OnePlus 3T with 162,423.
Galaxy S8’s score could be indicative of the improved performance in Qualcomm’s latest platform, Snapdragon 835. It’s worth mentioning that the phone will run Samsung’s Exynos 8895 SoC in certain regions, but it will have similar performances as the model with Qualcomm’s platform.
Aside from powerful components, Samsung also intends to make the Galaxy S8 visually-pleasing by providing multiple color options for the new phone. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to come in Orchid Gray (Grayish Purple), Coral Blue, Arctic Silver and Midnight Black variants, according to a report.
The phone will have a relocated fingerprint scanner and tiny bezels in the front, as well as a separate button for activating Bixby, Samsung’s own virtual assistant. The Galaxy S8 is expected to unveil on March 29 and arrive on the market in late April.
