Lefteris Arapakis grew up close to the Greek port of Piraeus, in a household of fishermen whose connection to the ocean spans 5 generations. He was raised on the assumption that the ocean would all the time present. But in the future, out on the water, he noticed one thing that modified him: plastic tangled within the nets, hauled in, then thrown proper again into the ocean.
He couldn’t unsee it. And he refused to just accept it.
