Confirming reports from earlier this month, Skype for Business is going to be replaced by Microsoft Teams. The company announced the change at Ignite, revealing Microsoft Teams will become the core communication service in Office 365. A timeline for the transition isn’t available.
Teams launched in March 2017 as part of Office 365. Its core communication capabilities come directly from Skype for Business.
Interoperability will exist between the platforms and Teams will receive Skype for Business features like inbound/outbound calls to PSTN numbers, hold, call transfer, and voicemail.
