Possible Nokia D1C smartphone pricing leaked, could start …

Nokia is expected to get back into the smartphone game next year with a device currently dubbed D1C, which is said to be powered by Android. The D1C has garnered considerable interested over the past few weeks as everyone has their fingers crossed in hopes the phone will revive Nokia’s glory days. We have seen numerous details of the device leak recently, confirming that it is indeed on its way to market.

Now, the folks over at Nokiapoweruser have come out with pricing information on the two rumored variants of the D1C. The 2GB RAM variant of the D1C could reportedly be priced at $150 (roughly SGD 215), while the 3GB RAM variant could cost $50 more. The pricing seems at par with phones with similar specs from Chinese manufacturers, suggesting Nokia will be targeting the budget segment when it marks its return next year. With Samsung and Apple having a duopoly over the flagship smartphone market, the budget segment would be the Finnish company’s best bet anyway, especially when you consider how its Lumia smartphones also stuck a chord with consumers for their low prices.

There is currently no word on a time frame for the D1C’s launch, but with the number of leaks that have permeated the web in recent weeks, we can expect the device to go official sometime in the first quarter of 2017. HMD Global, which has numerous Nokia veterans on its payroll, is developing the phone under the Nokia branding and will be using Foxconn’s factories to manufacture the D1C.
