Philips BDM4037UW Biggest 4K curved monitor you can buy?

Philips Monitors announces the BDM4037UW, a 40-inch Philips Brilliance 4K Ultra HD LCD display with MultiView feature. It’s a 40-inch curved monitor with 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) resolution, using a vertical alignment LCD panel with W-LED backlighting.

The BDM4037UW has a high performance panel to deliver UltraClear, 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution images. Moreover, this Philips display uses an advanced multi-domain vertical alignment technology which results in super-high static contrast ratios for extra vivid and bright images. Thanks to its optimised pixel management technology, the display also has extra wide viewing angles of 178/178 degree.

Philips has included its Multiview feature in the BDM4037UW, which supports four full HD inputs that can be displayed on the screen at the same time. A number of different screen modes, such as picture-in-picture, are supported, meaning that users can make efficient use of the display’s extensive real estate.

Color support is solid, with 85 percent coverage of the NTSC gamut and support for more than a billion colors. Philips claims support for its Ultra Wide-Color technology, but HDR is not supported. Other specs of note include 300 nits of brightness, SmartImage preset functionality, and tilting from minus-five to 10 degrees. Connectivity is provided by a VGA input, two DisplayPorts, one HDMI 1.4 port, and one HDMI 1.0 port.

The screen woull cost $630/£589, but lacks HDR support, which seems to become the trend this year.

Supporting a wider colour gamut – 85% of the NTSC gamut as opposed to the typical 72% – Ultra Wide Color expands on the range of colours that are perceived by users and produces more true-to-life images. Unlike enhancements that work by modifying software settings in order to adjust the colour balance, Ultra Wide Color is a hardware enhancement.

Get more done – with ease

Artem Khomenko, Product Manager Philips monitors Europe at MMD says, “We are committed to bringing advanced display experiences to users. By combining 4K and Ultra Wide Color in a curved display, this new model offers fantastic clarity in combination with massive space for multitasking. This is also supported by the Philips MultiView feature.”

MultiView

MultiView enables users to have up to four inputs shown on one screen – each in Full HD. The pictures can be arranged in two different ways: 1) The Picture-by-Picture mode, which is useful in control rooms or for using multiple devices like notebooks side-by-side to make collaboration more productive. This mode splits the screen in several partitions; 2) The Picture-in-Picture mode, e.g. for watching a news feed in a small window while working on the entire rest of the screen.

To prevent flicker and hence eye fatigue, which might be experienced by some users on LED-backlit screens, the monitor is equipped with Philips Flicker-free Technology.

Taking all this together, whether you are demanding professional requiring extremely detailed images for CAD solutions, using 3D graphics applications or working on huge spreadsheets, this monitor will make your images and graphics come alive.

The new Philips BDM4037UW display, with an RRP of £589, is available now.
