Nokia D1C images and specs surface again; Android 7.0 to be …

224

The latest images and rumored specs have appeared for the Nokia D1C. The device will mark Nokia’s return to the smartphone business after it followed the terms of the Nokia Devices and Services acquisition by Microsoft in 2014. The non-compete clause that was part of the transaction has kept Nokia out of the market until now.

We expect to see two versions of the D1C; one will be a mid-range phone, and the second model will be a high-end flagship unit. Both will be powered by Android 7.0 Nouget. An image of the mid-range model has leaked in a photo that appears to have been taken inside a manufacturing facility (check out the gloves that are being worn). We expect this version of the Nokia D1C to be powered by a Snapdragon 600 series chipset, carry 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Besides the photo, some sketches of both the mid-range model and the flagship unit were disseminated. The former is expected to have a 5-inch display, while the latter could come with a 5.5-inch screen. Both will have a resolution of 1080 x 1920. Besides the difference in screen sizes, the only difference between the two devices appears to be the front-facing fingerprint scanner on the high-end model. The mid-range unit will come without that feature.

We could see the Nokia D1C officially unveiled at CES next month in Las Vegas. The annual trade show runs from January 5th through January 8th.
