The Nintendo Switch is going to debut at around ¥25,000 in Japan, reports Nikkei. If that’s the console’s retail price, it could sell for around $215 in the US based on the current exchange rate. A sub-$250 price tag globally will give the Switch a good market position. Despite being a new console, it’ll already cost less than the PS4 and Xbox One.
Even though the exact US cost is unlikely to match the exchange rate value, Nikkei’s report strongly suggests the console will be under $250. That’ll also be superior to the Wii U, which sold for $299.
More details about the Switch, possibly including its price, will be announced on January 13.
