LG today announced a new lower mid-range smartphone, dubbed the X300.

The smartphone features a 5-inch LCD display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution, offering a pixel density of 294 pixels per inch. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 MSM8917 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.4 GHz, with the graphics being powered by the Adreno 308 GPU. In the memory department, the LG X300 offers 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded via a microSD card.

At the back, the X300 features a 13MP main camera for shooting photos as well as video. For taking selfies and video calls, the X300 comes with a 5MP resolution camera on the front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, NFC, microUSB 2.0, and 4G LTE. Like most other lower mid-range handsets, the LG X300 isn’t very impressive in the battery department, packing a rather small 2500mAh capacity battery inside. It should still be quite decent though, thanks to the relatively low screen resolution. In terms of dimensions, the X300 measures 144.8 x 72.1 x 8.09mm and weighs in at 142 grams.

The main USP of the new smartphone in our opinion is the software. It runs on the Android 7.0 Nougat platform, with LG’s custom Android UI layer running on top.

LG has priced the smartphone at KRW 253,000, which converts to around $220. The company hasn’t detailed availability info yet, nor have we heard anything regarding global availability.
