Lenovo Miix 710 and Miix 720 tablets leaked

Lenovo recently launched a 12 inch 2-in-1 tablet with a built-in kickstand, a detachable keyboard, pen support, Intel Skylake processor options, and a starting price of $600,

But it looks like the company has a new model or two on the way. A series of leaks suggest Miix 710 and/or Miix 720 models are on the way.

As far as I can tell, the key difference is that the 7xx series models will have Intel Kaby Lake processors rather than Skylake, but there may be some other premium features — Lenovo tends to use higher model numbers for more expensive computers.

According to a Chinese user manual for the Miix 710, that tablet will have a 12 inch, 2160 x 1440 pixel display, up to 16GB of LPDDR-1866 RAM, micro HDMI, microSD card, USB 3.0, and USB 2.0 ports and a 40 Wh battery.

Meanwhile, Roland Quandt noted a few weeks ago that a Miix 720 is coming soon, with support for Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 Kaby Lake chips. Then lo and behold, the Miix 720 showed up at the FCC website yesterday.

Based on Lenovo’s usual naming conventions, I would have expected the Miix 710 to be a follow-up to last year’s Miix 700 tablet, with a new Miix 720 coming in 2017.

But this time it looks like Lenovo is getting ready to introduce both a Miix 710 and Miix 720 in the coming months. One possible explanation? The Miix 710 could be a more affordable, lower-power option with Intel Y-series Core m3-7Y30, Core i5-7Y54, and Core i7-7Y75 processor choices.

There’s no word on when the new tablets will be available or how much they’ll cost.
