Chinese smartphone maker LeEco today announced its newest flagship smartphone, the Le Pro 3. The key highlight of the Le Pro 3 is that it happens to be the world’s second smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 flagship mobile SoC. Sadly though, rumors suggesting that the device will offer 8GB of RAM didn’t quite pan out.

The Le Pro 3, similar to the company’s previous flagship smartphones, features a metal unibody design with a brushed metal finish. What is very impressive is that LeEco has managed to achieve a thickness of just 7.5mm despite packing a 4070mAh capacity battery inside. The smartphone offers a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD IPS LCD display on the front, with 2.5D arc glass on top. LeEco claims the display covers 80% of the NTSC color gamut and can hit a maximum brightness of 500 nits. Powering the Le Pro 3 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 SoC clocked at 2.35GHz, with the Adreno 530 GPU clocked at 653 MHz. The chipset is paired with either 4 or 6GB of RAM, depending on the version. Four basic variants will be available at launch – 4GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB, and 6GB/128GB. It should be noted that LeEco is using fast UFS 2.0 internal storage on all versions, so you should expect flawless performance from the handset.

The rear camera utilizes the Sony IMX298 16MP sensor and includes phase detection autofocus, dual-LED flash, and an f/2.0 aperture lens. The selfie camera on the front is an 8MP unit with 1.4 micron pixels size and an f/2.2 aperture wide-angle lens. On the connectivity front, Le Pro 3 comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac dual-band MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, built-in IR blaster, and 4G VoLTE network support. Keeping the lights on is a 4070mAh capacity battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. Similar to the iPhone 7 and recent LeEco smartphones, the Le Pro 3 too does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, you will need to connect your headphones via the USB Type-C port, supporting the CDLA audio standard. The handset also comes with dual stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, rear mounted fingerprint scanner, and dual-SIM card slots. As for software, the flagship smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with EUI 5.8 running on top.

Prices start at 1799 Yuan ($270) for the base variant with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. The variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage has been priced at 1999 Yuan ($299). There is also a top end variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which costs 2999 Yuan ($449). The smartphone is available for pre-order in China starting today and is expected to go on sale starting from the 28th of this month.
