Huawei Mate 9 Gets New Update, Adds December Security Patch,…

283

The Huawei Mate 9 is a hard to come by flagship phablet. Unveiled back in early November, the smartphone made it to China, but its availability in other countries is still a mystery.

According to the Chinese handset maker, the phone should go on sale in select market in December, but despite Huawei’s official statement, the Mate 9 can hardly be purchased in a couple of countries.

But that didn’t prevent Huawei from releasing a first software update even before the Mate 9 was launched on the market. Today, another update is available for those lucky few who managed to get their hands on one.

The first update released by Huawei added 6x camera zoom, as well as some other optimizations and improvements, such as display in the status bar, which should now show notifications in a clearer way.

Well, the latest Mate 9 update enhances some of the features that were brought by the previous one, such as the fact that the smartphone’s camera now supports 10x zoom. Aside from that, the update contains the latest December security patch, The Android Soul reports.

Some other performance have been included in the update as well, but no additional details have been provided. A couple of screenshots leaked online confirm the update is now rolled out in China, but we can safely assume it will released to all Mate 9 across the globe.

Keep in mind that this is very small update that weighs in at 278MB in size. Also, Huawei is pushing it OTA (over the air), so it might take some time until it reaches all Mate 9 units.

Those of you who don’t want to wait to be notified about the update can manually check for it by heading to Settings / About phone / System updates. You’ll be looking for firmware build MHA-AL00C00B153.
