Crowd-developed Pyramid Flipper tablet hits Indiegogo soon

The upcoming Pyramid Flipper tablet will be sold by a company called Eve Tech. But it’s being designed in collaboration with Eve’s potential customers.

Eve Tech has been working with members of its forums to choose the features that will be included in the finished product, and weigh the pros and cons of each. While the final spec sheet hasn’t been revealed yet, you can see which features have been “locked in,” “rejected,” or “suggested” in a post at the Eve Community site.

Now the company is starting to talk about actually selling the Pyramid Flipper. It’ll go up for pre-order through a crowdfunding campaign in late September or early October, and Eve hopes to begin shipping the first tablets by December or January.

At this point we know the tablet will be a 2-in-1 device that works with a wireless keyboard and a Wacom digital pen. It’ll have USB Type-A and Type-C ports, as well as Thunderbolt 3 support. There’ll also be a dedicated headphone jack.

The Pyramid Flipper is designed to run Windows 10 and it will support Microsoft’s Windows Hello software. It’s expected to have a Gorilla Glass screen and an Intel Kaby lake processor.

Some features it won’t have are an AMOLED display, a built-in projector, or additional USB ports in the charger.

Only 500 units will be produced initially, assuming the crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo meets its goals. After the first units go out, Eve plans to sell the tablet through its own website.
