ASRock has updated its Beebox-S mini PCs with the latest 7th Generation Intel Kaby Lake processors. The Kaby Lake lineup includes only two models for now: Beebox-S 7100U and the Beebox-S 7200U.

The Beebox-S 7100U is powered by the Intel Core i3-7100U dual-core processor with a 2.4 GHz base clock, while the Beebox-S 7200U is powered by the more powerful Intel Core-i5 7200U dual-core processor with a 2.5 GHz base clock and a 3.1 GHz boost clock. Apart from the processor inside, the two models are identical to each other in every other area.

Both models support up to 32GB of DDR4-2133 MHz RAM, an M.2 SSD, and a 2.5” SATA 3.0 hard disk drive for storage. In the connectivity department, the two mini PCs come with integrated Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. The front I/O ports include 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB 3.1 Type-C, 1 IR, and an audio output jack with microphone-in. Rear connections include two HDMI ports, a DP port, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 LAN, and a Kensington lock. The mini PCs also include Realtek ALC283 onboard audio. The two 0.6 liter mini PCs come with a 65W/19V adapter and measure 110 x 46 x 118.5mm in terms of size.

The ASRock Beebox-S 7100U is now available in the US via Newegg for $291, while the more powerful Beebox-S 7200U is priced at $349. While they aren’t exactly dirt cheap by any means, they can make great HTPCs for buyers on a limited budget, thanks to Kaby Lake’s impressive media capabilities (including support for watching Netflix in 4K). This is probably the reason why ASRock is bundling a remote controller along with these mini PCs.
