Apple’s new iPad models may have different screen sizes, sporting 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch screens, according to a report by Digitimes.

Right now, Apple sells iPads with 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch screens, but the 10.5-inch version it just introduced is a first.

Rumour has it that Apple may eventually discontinue the 9.7-inch version of the iPad.

Over the past couple of months, we heard that Apple plans to have a big iPad update in 2017 which will include tablet screens extending from one edge of the device to the other. Furthermore, Apple is said to be considering taking away the device’s physical home button and using a touch-screen-based button instead.

Nevertheless, the biggest change, will be a 10.5-inch screen. Apple currently sells a 7.9-inch iPad Mini besides having the 9.7-inch iPad Air on sale. The iPad Pro on the other hand is available in both 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch sizes. No one has yet to have a clue as to why Apple would want to introduce a 10.5-inch variation though.

In the past, Apple’s release of new iPads has consistently helped to lift sales, which will be a good news for investors. However, over the last several quarters, it seems like Apple’s iPad business has been on the decline as customers begin to turn to 2-in1 hybrid convertibles that can work both as notebooks and tablets.

During Apple’s quarter ending in September last year, iPad revenue was flat at $4.3 billion. Unit sales even fell by 6% year-over-year to $9.3 million.
