While Zen+ Ryzen 2000 still needs to be launched, the next 7nm Zen3 could launch by next year. However there now is gossip regarding Zen 5, years ahead of us. In a promotional video marking the anniversary of the first Ryzen products, a chief architect of “Zen” architecture has revealed that his team is working on a Zen 5.
Zen 5 would be an internal codename and the fifth installment in the x86 Zen microarchitecture as videocardz spotted, Zen 4 has not been mentioned but could obviously be a refresh of Zen 3. Also, AMD might just skip the number 4 for Zen, the number 4 is not loved in Asia, an unlucky number.
Current roadmaps end at Zen 3 with a release in 2020, Zen 5 as such is far away, 2021~2022 perhaps. But hey, good to know that AMD is planning ahead.
