Amazon Launches a Research Hub For Car Buyers

Amazon is offering up car advice with the launch of a new research portal geared to those shopping for a new vehicle — but the retailer won’t be acting as a virtual dealership.

Amazon Vehicles, launched Thursday, is designed as a resource for those seeking information about specific vehicles.

Though Amazon won’t be selling cars, it will allow customers to review their purchases. Vehicle owners can leave feedback and answer any questions other people may have about their make and model.

“Amazon Vehicles is a great resource for customers who are interested in car information or looking for a broad selection of parts and accessories — all enhanced by the ability to tap into the knowledge, opinions, and experiences of other car owners within the Amazon customer community,” Adam Goetsch, director of automotive at Amazon.com said in a statement.

Prospective buyers who aren’t quite sure of what they want can also sort by body type, make, model, color, or seating capacity, among other categories, to help zero in on their ideal vehicle.

Amazon already sells millions of car parts and accessories. Customers can save their vehicle to their “Amazon Garage,” which will then make it easier for them to shop for compatible parts on Amazon.
