BEST BANG FOR BUCK,
So I was looking for months for a laptop that had everything
And let me start of by saying .. that .. this litte beast is it. dedicated memory .. 640gb HDD … 6gb ram … and at 750 US … it’s a steal of a deal
while I admit the regular acer line is crap .. the timeline x models have shown to be a bit more reliable. being a dedicated DELL man most of my life, i took a chance and was not disappointed.
there is one drawback that isn’t mentioned in the product specs, is that the battery isn’t removeable, but I will admit battery life is pretty kickass though and honestly .. who really does need to remove the battery, I mean .. really
the dolby home theater v4 it comes with is pretty damn awesome as well and it plays most audio pretty clearly and loud enough.
so in closing i have to say its a pretty good deal and i don’t regret it one bit! and the shipper sent it on time n’ everything as well so kudos to that as well
i’ll keep you all posted if there are any further hecklings with the machine!

Just a couple steps below a gaming laptop.,
Being an avid gamer and artist, I needed an all-around laptop that
-has a good battery life
-could run programs & games fairly well (when I wanna take a break)
-didn’t look like a George Forman grill like most laptops
-not over $900-1000.
At first I thought I was in over my head expecting such a laptop to exist.
But with the new i5 and GT 540m, this thing is a couple steps below a gaming laptop. It can run Skyrim on high (although drop shadows to med for a smooth framerate). And a few other games as well, but I won’t get into that. It’s very slim and lightweight. Realistically, the laptop can last about 6-7 hours, around 3 while gaming. I’m sure the LED screen has a great helping hand in this.
FL Studio runs well, but I have to max out the buffer to prevent any sound popping. And Flash and Photoshop runs surprisingly well.
Has a built in webcam and mic, which work very well.
If I had any complaint, it’d be the lack of color choices. I remember seeing a red one somewhere else.
Other than that, it’s the absolute perfect balance between budget, performance, and battery life.

Excellent laptop for almost any purpose!,
Did a lot of research before I bought this laptop, which I mainly intended to use as a desktop replacement. However, i did want it to be small and light enough to be able to lug around international flights on conferences etc.
Ive used this Acer 5830TG for a week now, and im quite blown away by how much laptop you get for the money:
1. It looks and feels great to use…uber modern blue/silver style, thin and light, nice feel to the materials.
2. Super fast 2nd gen i5, 6G ram, and 1G dedicated Nvidia graphics mean that u can use it for almost anything…so far it has handled everything ive thrown at it without the slightest hiccup (this includes fairly high powered medical stats packages).
3. Nice widescreen, incredible battery life, USB 3.0, and HDMI out are a nice icing on the cake too!
Only drawback is the bloatware it comes with (lots of norton, mcafee, acer crap software), but consumers must understand that this helps the company subsidise the amazingly low price of this high spec machine…spend a coupla minutes un-installing all the crap when u first purchase (easy to do from the control panel in windows 7) and ur sweet!
Overall highly recommended over competitors…and should turn a few mac boys greeny yellow with envy as well!
