Established in 2011, Samsung Family Day is an event held multiple times throughout the year at Samsung’s SEV (Bac Ninh) and SEVT (Thai Nguyen) factories. The program allows employees’ parents to get a better understanding of their children’s work environments and see firsthand what family means to Samsung. By welcoming parents into its home, Samsung hopes to express its commitment to strengthening family bonds, both between employees and their parents, and between an employee’s “home” and “work” families.

Since its inception, over 9,000 Samsung personnel and 16,000 parents have taken part in the meaningful event, which begins with a factory tour. Therefore, families visit the production lines and top-flight facilities where their children work and learn more about the comprehensive employee benefits that have led Samsung to consistently rank among Vietnam’s best workplaces.

After the tour, the employees and their families travel to either Ha Long Bay or Bai Dinh—both widely regarded as among Vietnam’s most beautiful destinations. The trip is meaningful for all involved, as it allows the families to share in a fun and unique bonding opportunity.

Van Thang Le, father of Thi Lien Nguyen, of Samsung Vietnam’s Glass Department, called the Family Day event an experience he’ll long cherish. “This is the first time I’ve experienced the environment my daughter works in,” Mr. Le explained.

According to Mr. Le, the opportunity to enjoy a fun, new experience with his daughter made it a truly unforgettable weekend. “This is also the first time we have gone on vacation as a family,” he said. “It’s something we have never dreamed of, as we are a poor farming family.”

As Mr. Hoseok Cho, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, pointed out, Samsung considers programs that enrich family relationships and foster employee happiness in this way to be key focuses, vital for success.
