This is more installation info than a review. I will leave a review after I’ve used the unit for a month or so.

This unit has a built in steering wheel control interface.
I installed this into my 2013 suburban using a PAC OS-5 harness and I didn’t need to buy the accessory swc interface.
The Dual manual did not list my vehicle as compatible and PAC’s paperwork was telling me I had to buy their interface to keep the steering wheel controls – both not true.
I just connected the wire that the os-5 harness routed to the plug for their swc interface, cut off the plug, and made a connection to the wire that dual instructed for Chevrolet. [in my case white/green (PAC) to brown SWC1 (dual) and black ground to ground. See pic. The dual swc2 wire was left unused and capped off and I used the the red power tap that would have gone to the swc box to run power to a backup camera] To program I had to select high voltage and every button’s frequency came through and was assignable.

I purchased this head unit to use in my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid with JBL sound system. I was in the market for a head unit with Android, and had attempted to install a cheap-o Chinese OEM look-alike, but it wouldn’t play nice with my PAC RP4.2-TY11 interface… I had all but given up, when I stumbled upon this little baby.

My intention was to find a head unit that could display Google Maps, sync bluetooth media (not just calls), and play DVDs. This unit checks every box, though in a round about way.

Here’s my set-up: Dual DV637MB head unit, Metra dash kit that corresponds to my car, PAC RP4.2-TY11 interface (for JBL integration). I have my HDMI and micro-USB cables run under my panels from the center console to the head unit, and a generic AnyCast device plugged in to these in the center console. That last part may be a bit superfluous, but I wanted to be able to fiddle with the AnyCast device, and access the HDMI input cable without disassembling my dash.

I downloaded the DualMirror app to my phone, set up a few profiles in Tasker, and now it’s like magic. I can get in my car, plug in my phone, and my phone automatically syncs to Bluetooth, AnyCast, opens the DualMirror app, and goes in to Car mode. Within 10 seconds, my head unit becomes my phone. I can select music, view text messages, start navigation, perform voice searches… All while my phone is tucked safely away, with no visible wires. Pretty slick!

The only cons that I can think of aren’t really cons – sure, the screen size isn’t much bigger than my Galaxy screen (6.2″ vs 5.5″), but the fact that I can stash my phone away instead of having to mount it to my dash, and run a charging wire to it, etc… Makes this detail minutiae. The screen isn’t multi-touch, or super responsive, but it gets the job done! The only true drawback is that it doesn’t accept digital steering wheel controls input. I had to give up my steering wheel controls. That is truly a minor inconvenience in comparison to the rest od tje features though.

The pros are too numerous to do justice in this review. The price as of writing this is $150 – to get an Android Auto head unit, it’s closer to $500, AND they limit what apps you can use while driving. The DualMirror functionality is really what sets this unit apart. Upgrade your phone? Guess what, your head unit just got upgraded too! Also, you can select the audio input in DualMirror mode (HDMI or Bluetooth). So I can have my phone showing Google Maps on the head unit while my wife plays music from her phone. Swapping back to the sound from my phone (through HDMI) takes 5 seconds. Installation was as easy as any other head unit (I used bullet connectors), and the overall look is very classy.

I couldn’t be happier, and I highly recommend this head unit. If seemlessy intrgrating your phone with your car is your goal, this is the most cost effective way to do it!
