Chinese telecommunications regulatory authority TENAA has certified a new affordable smartphone from ZTE, carrying the model number BA602.

The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch sized display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution, which means it will have a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch.

As expected from TENAA, the listing does not reveal the exact SoC powering the smartphone. All that is revealed is that the ZTE BA602 will be powered by a quad-core chipset clocked at 1.25 GHz. In terms of memory, the smartphone will be available in multiple configurations. The cheapest variant will include 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage, which is slightly disappointing even for an entry-level smartphone releasing in 2017. The mid variant will be equipped with 2GB of RAM, coupled with 16GB of internal storage. The most expensive variant will get 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

Moving on to the camera department, the ZTE BA602 is listed to include an 8MP camera at the back and a 2MP selfie snapper on the front. Battery life is expected to be pretty impressive for an entry-level smartphone, thanks to a 3000mAh capacity battery inside. The smartphone measures 153.3 x 77 x 8.6mm in terms of physical dimensions and weighs in at 168 grams. Software wise, the BA602 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, with ZTE’s custom Android UI layer running on top. At launch, the ZTE BA602 will be available in Quicksand Gold, Galaxy Silver, Phantom Grey, Quiet Blue, and Black color options.
