You will soon be able to use a Samsung Gear S3, S2, and Fit …

All the way back in late 2015, Samsung announced that they had plans to bring support for the Gear S2 (their latest smartwatch at the time) to the iOS platform. This was great news to hear, and a release in January of the following year in 2016 sounded great. Unfortunately, that support was simply never released. Samsung then followed this up with a beta program for the Gear S2 a few months back, and today, it looks like the company is ramping up to finally launch official support for not just the Gear S2 on iOS, but for the Gear S3 and Gear Fit 2 as well.

It was originally reported that support for these wearables on iOS would be launching today, but a representative for Samsung soon reached out to SamMobile to announced that, “We are in the final stages of testing and look forward to introducing iOS compatibility across our wearable portfolio very soon.” There’s no confirmed date as to when this functionality will be launched, but it’s still great to hear that iOS support for Samsung’s wearable lineup isn’t dead after all.
When Samsung is finally ready to launch Gear support for iOS users, all you’ll need to do is download the Samsung Gear S app if you’re using a Gear S2 or Gear S3, or the Gear Fit one if you’re going to be connecting a Gear Fit 2. The apps will be made available in the Apple App Store to download, and the pairing process should work just like any other smartwatch or fitness tracker.
If you’d like to use one of Samsung’s latest wearables with your iPhone when this functionality is finally released, you’ll need to ensure that you have at least an iPhone 5 or newer and are running iOS 9.0 or a later version of the software.
