The conversations as Xiaomi is working on its own processor have been buzzing in the new for a while. Now seems all these rumors will turn into reality in the nearest future. A few days back, we have been talking about the Xiaomi Mi 5C and the Pinecone processor made by Xiaomi. This chipset is set to show equal results to the Snapdragon 808 found on the Xioami Mi 4C. Thus the manufacturer upgrades its Mi line’s ‘C’ family with its in-house SoC. This news already causes no doubts. But it turns out there is also a Xiaomi’s self-made processor for the high-end smartphones as well.
It’s thought the Xiaomi Mi 5C will be the first product to come with the Pinecone processor. The latter is said to use the A53 architecture and to come with eight cores. There is also a Mali T860 MP4 GPU clocked at 800MHz frequency. But what’s a bit disappointing it uses 28nm process technology. This chip has a model number of V670.
However, there is another chip made by Xiaomi. It is codenamed as V970, and it’s expected this CPU will come at 4 x A73 + 4 x A53 architecture (unlike the Pinecone that comes at 4 x A53 + 4 x A53 architecture). The larger cores run at up to 2.7GHz frequency, while the smaller cores clock at 2.0GHz. It is also equipped with a Mali G71 MP12 graphics chip (clock speed of 900MHz). The V970 Xiaomi’s self-made processor is claimed to come with 10nm process technology like the Snapdragon 835.
Unfortunately, this rumor has not been confirmed by the company yet. But what’s interesting it’s not refused as well. Obviously, the manufacturer will get more freedom with its own chips. So it’s quite reasonable Xiaomi is currently working on such a powerful SoC. At last, the V970 processor is said to debut on the Xiaomi Mi 6S and Mi Note 3 in the fourth quarter of this year.
