I don’t know any top smartphone maker not sued for patent infringement or a false advertising. So when I hear Xiaomi has been sued, the first thing I though was Xiaomi has become a real top brand. But if taking this news more seriously, it turns out Xiaomi has made a false propaganda for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. This phone can be considered as outdated, as newer models from this family have been unveiled. But it can’t change the situation.
Today Beijing Haidian District Court official website published a case showing Xiaomi has been sued by a user, Mr. Wang. The case refers to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and the advertising the company has implemented for it.
The user sued Xiaomi and requires damage compensation at a sum of 3 x phone price. The false advertisement case of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has not been heard at court, so we can’t say what a verdict will be made for it. But let’s take a look at the corroboration of Mr. Wang.
It turns out the company has announced the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is packed with a 13MP camera provided by Samsung as well as a SHARP / AUO screen. But when the users bought this phones, it turned out the Redmi Note 2 sports a camera made by Oufei and a screen supplied by Tianma. Thus the actual configuration of the phone differs from what had been advertised. Agree, this is serious. But I don’t mean this certain case. If this statement is true, it may affect company’s popularity.

Personally, I don’t think Xiaomi has misinformed its customers. My certitude is based on the philosophy and policy this company follows for. The innovative approach to any details is the key of success for Xiaomi. So may be something is wrong with this case. However, we have to write down this is the first case for Xiaomi. Or maybe my memory serves me bad?
