Xiaomi usually adds letter ‘A’ to its products, when it wants to hint at its affordability. This rule refers to all products with no exceptions. For example, I guess you are familiar with the Xiaomi Mi TV 4, the thinnest TV set in the world at only 4.9mm thickness. But only a few people know there is the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A sporting lighter hardware. Another example, many smartphone users may have heard about the Xiaomi Redmi 4. But few of them is familiar with cheapest Xiaomi handset, Redmi 4A priced at only $75. The same story is true for the newly announced Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A. It’s going to be the first model in the fifth-gen Redmi Note line after the much-talked and very attractive Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X. But what’s amazing, the Redmi Note 5A is going to cost too low beyond the decent hardware. Today it’s become known there will be a few variants of this phone designed for different Chinese (and not only) carriers. The cheapest of them will cost as low as 599 yuan ($90).
The main version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A is said to go on sale on August 21 with a decent list of features. The lower variant should be packed with a 5.5-inch 720p resolution screen, Snapdragon 425 chip, 5MP front camera, 13MP rear shooter, 2/3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, 3080mAh built-in battery, and Android 7.1 pre-installed. This variant is dubbed as the MDE6, and it is going to hit the market at a price tag of 5999 yuan, as I said.
The second version comes with higher features such as a 1080p resolution screen, Snapdragon 625 processor, 3/4GB of RAM, and a few other changes. These improved features will affect the pricing as well. It will cost 999 yuan ($150). Seems it is designed for to carriers, as there are two model numbers for the same product, MDE6S and MDT6S.
