Xiaomi has already announced its much-awaited Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones in India, and there is absolutely no doubt that right now, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is the best budget smartphone, featuring a powerful processor, amazing camera setup, great battery and solid design. Xiaomi knows this very well that India is the most profitable market for the company and due to that, the company keeps launching exclusive devices for India. That’s the reason why Xiaomi decided to launch Redmi Note 5 Pro in India first. Now, the company has officially said that both the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro will be manufactured in India.
The company has said that out of all the phones that it sells in India, about 95% are made in India. Manu Kumar Jan, the Global Vice President and Managing Director Xiaomi India said –
Like our other products, these devices will be 100 percent manufactured in India. Majority of these two devices will be manufactured at two of our units housed in Sri City. We will have more to share on the overall manufacturing front for the country soon.
Talking about the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Manu Kumar Jain further added –
We are geared up to take ‘Make in India’ to the next level by setting up more manufacturing units for other categories (of products) too. Among the top 10 smartphones in India in 2017, six were Xiaomi phones. We have 57 per cent market share online and nearly 11 per cent share offline in the country. The challenge is now to defend the online territory and ramp up our offline presence for a strong year-long growth period
This is another wise step by the company to make its roots strong in India. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro are priced at Rs. 9,999 and 13,999 for the base models which is very aggressive pricing for the features they offer. The sale is happening on Flipkart and Mi.com on February 22 so better be ready to add the phones to the cart since they will go out of stock in few minutes.
