Xiaomi is working on a new budget Redmi Note smartphone that according to recent rumours is just around the corner. The online retailer JD.com has briefly listed the smartphone, suggesting the launch is imminent. The listing didn’t reveal much about the phone, as it was priced at is CNY 8,888, which is clearly a placeholder – 8 being a lucky number in Chinese culture.
Previous rumours claim that the Redmi Note 5 pack an 18:9 screen (1,080 x 2,160px), Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 chipset and dual cameras on the back. The price of the phone is also expected to be around CNY 1,200 or around $180.
