Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X launching on February 14th

It was at the end of December last year that China’s telecom regulator TENAA had certified the Redmi Note 4X, suggesting an official launch was on its way. Xiaomi has now revealed that the handset will be launched on February 14th. The Note 4X is expected to feature an upgrade in the processing power, with the Snapdragon 625 of the regular Note 4 to be replaced by the Snapdragon 653.

The Snapdragon 653 would actually be bringing the Redmi Note 4X slightly above the Redmi Note 3, as the standard Redmi Note 4 was a downgrade in this regard. A variant with the Helio X20, which powered the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 4, is said to exist as well. Other specs are expected to include a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 4GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, 32/64GB of internal storage, a 4,100 mAh battery, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the MIUI 8 interface. It’s more or less a mix of the hardware on the Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4, although the specs aren’t fully confirmed at this point.

The Redmi Note 4X is expected to be priced at 1,299 yuan (roughly SGD 266) for the 32GB model. Launch markets should include China and India, with the MediaTek variant going to the former and the Snapdragon version being released in the latter.
