Starting November, 2016 Xiaomi smartphones began getting OTA updates changing the existing Android version to Android 7.0. The first phone to get this update has been considered to be the Xiaomi Mi 5. This handset was one of the most popular devices of the company, and it’s quite reasonable why this major change came to the Mi 5 first. Later other devices started receiving this update too. I can’t remember whether the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has been listed or not, but according to the latest news this smartphone has got an update too. Surprisingly, the update version is higher than we’ve expected it to be.
A screenshot spotted in the GFXBench test database shows a Xiaomi phone got Android 7.1.1 update recently. The phone name is not mentioned though, and we have to make our own assumptions. This mysterious handset is said to feature a Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, 5.7-inch Full HD screen, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of ROM, 16MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and so on. All these specs can be found on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 but the screen. If you remember the Redmi Note 3 screen is at size of 5.5 inches.

However, if our suggestions are right, then the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 missed the Android 7.0 update and got version 7.1.1 at once. On one hand, this may seem odd, but this smartphone is the most popular Android device according to AnTuTu. So everything is possible. Moreover, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has won the best cheap phone and the best phone of 2016 awards. Therefore, the Chinese manufacturer has had all reasons to push Android 7.1.1 update for this handset first.
No matter why this smartphone has received Android 7.1.1 update first. It’s more important to focus on the idea this update is already ready and other Xiaomi handsets will get it soon.
