Xiaomi Pocophone F1 Review: An High-End Snapdragon 845 Sm…

Xiaomi is undoubtedly a household name when it comes to affordable smartphones. And yet the company has managed to raise the bar yet again in terms of pricing and performance with its new device — the Xiaomi Pocophone F1. Before we go on to the review in proper, we know a lot of Xiaomi fans would surely ask,  is Xiaomi Pocophone F1: made by Xiaomi?

The Xiaomi Pocophone F1‘s unusual name may be rising some eyebrows — and rightfully so because the device is actually a collaboration between two companies: Xiaomi and its new and lesser known sub-brand, Pocophone. Pocophone follow their own design and promotional techniques while enjoying the benefits of Xiaomi’s manufacturing facilities and software development experience. The phone was first released in India on August 22nd and available in all of Xiaomi reseller locations in the country.

First of all, let’s take a look at the packaging of the Pocophone F1, the box comes in a black and yellow color, the word  Pocophone F1 is clearly written in yellow with “by Xiaomi” directly written under it. Inside the box contains a  three-legged fast charging charger, a Type-C cable, a SIM card pin and an original protective cover.

The phone comes with a polycarbonate body — a low cost yet durable and hard-wearing option that will make sure the POCO F1 serves you long and well. You get the blue, black and red color variations — plus, there is the special edition coming with the Kevlar cover.

On the back, you have two vertically stacked cameras located just above a fingerprint sensor. You will also see red flashes around the sensor, which are there for aesthetics only.

On the front, there is the infamous notch that seems to be a trendy way to upset the otherwise well thought through design. In the case of the Pocophone F1, the presence of the notch can hardly be justified by the “bigger   6.18 inch, 2246 x 1080 Pixel Screen”. The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 display is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass which is renowned for its high resistance to wear and tear thus the Poco F1 display is built to last.  On the functional side, it houses the phone’s impressive selfie camera.

On the right side of the fuselage design are the volume button and power button, and also the sim card slot, where you can place two micro sim card at the same time, or a micro sim and a memory card.

There is a Type-C charging interface on the bottom of the fuselage, and there are speakers on both sides of the charging interface.

The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is still pre-installed with MIUI system, but the system version is called MIUI version (For POCO). The biggest difference between the interface and Xiaomi mobile phones is AppDrawer. This design is very important for users all around the globe.

The system also has a full-screen mode. After the screen is turned on, the navigation keys at the bottom of the screen will be removed. The rest will get the real full-screen enjoyment, but the gesture mode should be used instead. After the small series tried, I found it difficult to get used to it, and finally gave up.

The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clocking 2.8GHz coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB. The CPU of Poco F1 is kept cool by Xiaomi’s LiquidCool technology which is usually reserved for hardcore gaming smartphones. No matter how intensely you are gaming, the Pocophone F1 is always cool and the frequency output remains high. With this smartphone, you instantly say goodbye to slow response time and frozen screens

At the press conference, the official claimed that the phone can score 290,000 points on Antutu, but Xiaobian found that he only got 26 points, and said that the good 290,000 points went to the left.

It runs on pure Android 8.1 Oreo and with a decent 4000mAh battery, users are sure of at least one day usage time. This battery has the endurance to keep your phone as you game, watch videos, snap pictures or perform any intense task. It provides enough power for 30 hours calling and 146 hours of music time. It also supports Quick Charge 3.0 which means that you get charged up quickly and no need to worry. Xiaomi tailored a special MIUI specifically for POCO products to make it lighter, faster and smoother. This smartphone is equipped with a turbocharged engine which gives you a faster app startup experience, more sensitive swipe movements and more. The brand new customizable App Drawer for POCO Launcher intelligently categorizes your apps and makes searching for them easier and faster. MIUI for Poco also keeps your phone secure with the latest patches and updates from Google. The Poco Launcher App is currently available on Play Store for download.

Conclusion

Although the Pocophone F1 is the Cheapest Snapdragon 845 processor phone, other configurations besides the processor, such as screen resolution, body materials, and dual-lens quality, can’t be called a flagship phone. We can simply say, a mid-range phone with a flagship processor.
