Regarded as one of the most popular brands currently in the market, Xiaomi introduced its latest addition to the drone market. At first sight, it seems we are facing a DJI Tello‘s competitor. MITU has it named, is a compact and feature-rich drone with a built-in 720p HD camera.

Performance
Xiaomi MITU RC drone is a mini-drone (10 x 9.10 x 3.80 cm / 3.58 x 3.58 x 1.5 inches) that is suitable for both indoor and outdoor flying. A great product to beginners and also experienced pilots. It is very stable, even in the outdoor with low/moderate wind conditions. In fact, MITU can hover very steadily, good fit for beginners and children (older than 14). When flying outdoor remove the propeller guards, as it gives the drone some instability. MITU is equipped with 5 sensors that truly enhance its performance.
4-Core Processor and 5 Sensors
Being a Xiaomi product, I of course expected a special attention on hardware quality and disruptiveness. I wasn’t wrong. MITU is equipped with a 4-core 1.2G master chip that processes the data collected by all the built-in sensors. MITU has 5 sensors, ultrasonics, barometers, and the already mentioned optical flow sensors. This is why the performance is so good and it feels so easy to control the quadcopter.
Design
MITU’s design is very simple and clean. An oval shaped body in white, as well as 4 arms and propellers also in white. In the center of the drone there is the battery and battery storage in orange color. The propeller guards are detachable. Overall, MITU just weighs 88g, therefore very easy to carry around.
Camera
As most drones nowadays MITU also comes with a built-in camera. This camera is capable of recording 720p HD video at 30fps and taking decent quality photos. It is also capable of transmitting Real Time video to the mobile phone (thanks to the app I mentioned previously). However, one feature this product is definitely lacking is image stabilization. Therefore, expect some video ‘jello effect’ (shaky video).
Note: There is 4GB onboard storage for the photos and clips.
Features
As any other drone enthusiast, I too find much joy in features. Luckily, there are many in Xiaomi MITU. Through the app you can: set Height Restriction (maximum is 25 meters, however, sensors won’t work at that altitude), set Joystick Sensitivity, and set control (left-handed or right-handed). On top of this you can also access Automatic Takeoff and Landing, Palm Takeoff, Headless Mode, IR Battle Mode (connect to other Xiaomi MITU drones in the area and play virtual shooting game), and G-Sensor Mode.
Wait, it doesn’t stop here! MITU also has an Optical Flow Position Hold that automatically maintains the drone at a steady hover. And to finish off beautifully, every time your drone starts running low on battery there will be a voice warning saying “Battery Low. Please be Careful”.
Remote control
MITU can be controlled via WiFi and Bluetooth. The best experience, in my opinion, is actually via mobile. Why? Because it allows you to adjust settings, access features, record videos and take photos. Everything through a free to download app available for both Android and iOS devices. However, you can also purchase a Bluetooth remote controller separately and enjoy more acrobatic fun with the drone.

Specifications
In terms of specifications ,Xiaomi MITU was also able to surprise me. First of all, the maximum height of 25 meters and the ability to reduce it is very interesting. The Flight Time is around 9 to 10 minutes, depending of course on flight conditions and camera usage. Regarding maximum control distance, MITU is capable of flying as far as 50 meters, which is right on average for drones within its price range.

If you are looking for a fun drone to fly or even to gift someone, you will find MITU gives the most value for its money. It is equipped with great hardware and a wide set of useful and entertaining features. It is super easy to control (even for beginners) due to its Optical Sensors. I definitely recommend Xiaomi MITU, it is without a doubt a very fun drone.
