Xiaomi announced new smart sportswear dubbed as Xiaomi Mijia Smart Shoes on April 1. Now these shoes are available for purchase at a price tag of 249 yuan ($36). The selling point of these sports shoes is the Intel Curie Module. But to learn how it operates we have to dig deeper.
These shoes have been made in collaboration with Intel, which has provided the button-sized Curie module that powers the fitness-tracking features. This means the shoes can detect whether you’re walking, running, or even climbing. At the end of the day, you can check out a comprehensive report that lets you know how far you traveled, your average speed, and calories burned.
The shoes themselves appear to be comfortable as they have anti-skid features, air cushions, soles that have an arch design and antibacterial insoles. The ankles and heel of the shoes also contain a soft velvet composite SBR (high-elastic styrene-butadiene rubber), which helps stabilize the fit of the shoes and prevent them from slipping off. There are four color options to choose from: Black and Surf Blue for men and Black and Pink for women. But if you like running in the nigh, probably you will prefer the special Blue Edition which glows in the dark.
These is not the first time we see smart shoes, as Under Armour recently unveiled its SpeedForm Gemini 3 running shoes, which track and guide user workouts. Well, the Xiaomi Mijia Smart Shoes are priced at 249 yuan ($36), which is quite affordable if taking into account we are dealing with professional sports shoes that can also provide useful data on your fitness activity.
