The Xiaomi Mi Selfie Stick Wired Edition is an upgrade to the Mi Selfie Stick Bluetooth Edition which was released last year in China. The Bluetooth Edition was widely accepted by Xiaomi fans and customers in the country, but due to some reasons, Xiaomi decided to release the wired edition to soothe their fans.
The main reason why the Xiaomi Mi Selfie Stick Wired Edition was launched is because users had issues with the Bluetooth Edition in terms of battery and reliability. As all wireless selfie sticks work, the Xiaomi Mi Selfie Stick Bluetooth Edition takes selfies by connecting to your smartphone via Bluetooth to initiate the process, and then the selfie is taken when the volume buttons are triggered by the press of a button on the handle of the selfie stick. Because Bluetooth technology requires power, the Mi Selfie Stick Bluetooth Edition needs batteries (CR2032 batteries at that!) and things could go the other way if the batteries run out at the time when you’re about to take pictures.
The Xiaomi Mi Selfie Stick Wired Edition however works totally independent of batteries. Well, it still depends on batteries, but that is your smartphone battery, and that isn’t a problem since you can’t use the smartphone at all without battery power.
The Mi Selfie Stick Wired Edition comes with a cord which can be plugged into the 3.5mm headphone jack on your smartphone. When this is done, all you need to do take a selfie is to press the button on the handle of the selfie stick and bam!, you have your nice selfie saved on your phone.
To make sure this works with your Xiaomi smartphone (and most other smartphones), you have to make some changes to your camera settings. Simply head over to your Settings app, navigate to Camera Settings, click on Volume buttons function and select Shutter (it’s Zoom by default).
