The Indian market is the second largest market in the globe. That’s why Xiaomi is focusing on it more rather than on the US market. Recently, Xiaomi announced the Q3 and September sales numbers, and they showcase the company is back. Reportedly, the company has sold over 10 million units in the past month only. This result is quite amazing because many smartphone makers don’t ship so many devices even in a year. Moreover, Xiaomi has shipped about 70 million smartphones in the Q3. This means it has already exceeded last year’s number. It was 58 million for 2016. The Indian smartphone market has its own investment in Xiaomi’s resurrection. According to the official statement, Xiaomi has sold 1 million smartphones in 48 hours during Indian Mega Sales. Another report claims Xiaomi sells 300 units in 1 minute in India. All these reports show India is a very attractive market for all manufacturers. But many think only budget-friendly models are offered there. These thoughts have nothing common with reality. The most innovative smartphone of the company, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 will be launched in India on October 10.
Generally, Chinese brands are the most preferred brands in this market. This statement is especially true for Xiaomi. The Q4, 2016 reports concerning the Indian market shows Chinese smartphone brands gained momentum. They occupied 46% of the market. That’s why Xiaomi was able to earn over $1 billion in India in 2016. As the main Mi line flagships were not very successful, the company could sell mainly mid-range and low-end smartphones. Say, one of the most popular models in India was the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. It hit a record at the launch – 250k+ sold units in 10 minutes. As a result, the manufacturer sold up to 5 million pieces in India only.
As for this year, the company has revised its strategy towards this market and has launched almost all the latest models for the Indian customers as well. Among those devices, we can note the Mi Android One (A1), Mi Max 2, and much more. Now it’s turn of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2.
Today, Xiaomi’s director of product management has published on his social media page an interesting statement claiming the new Mi MIX 2 will be launched in India on October 10 at a special conference held in New Delhi. As you know, the selling points of this handset are the bezel-less screen, Snapdragon 835 chip, 8GB of RAM, ceramic housing, etc. The phone’s price tags vary from 3299 yuan ($506) to 4699 yuan ($720). So the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 should be priced around 35.000 rupees.
