Xiaomi announced two new TV boxes dubbed as the Xiaomi Mi Box 3C and Xiaomi Mi Box 3S a week back. These devices are also known as artificial intelligence set-top boxes dues to user interface PatchWall, which is based on artificial intelligence. Thus the UI is capable of learning what users to periodically and make suggestions to provide better experience over time. As of now, the Xiaomi Mi Box 3C and 3S are currently available for purchase at just $29 (199 yuan) and $44 (299 yuan), respectively, which is a great price tag if taking into account how other TV boxes are priced.
The Xiaomi Mi Box 3C and 3S don’t differ from their predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi Box 3 much. Like the latter and other Mi devices these set-top boxes look amazing and showcase a minimalist design. In comparison to the original model they have become more futuristic thanks to rounded shell and a matte texture.
The Mi Box 3C is packed with an Amlogic S905X quad-core Cotex-A53 architecture processor clocked at 2GHz and paired with a 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. It also supports 2.4 / 5GHz dual band WIFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, DU ratio, and DTS sound.
Its sibling, the XIaomi Mi Box 3S sports the same processor but it is paired with a 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory. Plus, it comes with HDR, and the HDMI port is upgraded to 2.0a.
Well, seems the only difference between these two set-top boxes is the memory, but it’s not so. The Mi Box 3C runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, while its enhanced version runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. At last, the latter comes with a special MiTouch remote control, while the Mi Box 3C offers an ordinary Xiaomi remote control.
As you see, these TV boxes are quite attractive and offer a list of innovative features including 4K video support. So $29 and $44 seems quite acceptable.
