Xiaomi has started 2018 with a bang by launching the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro in the Indian market. If you don’t know, the first sale happened today, and the phone went out of stock in less than a minute that showed how excited people are to buy it. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S was expected to launch in these days but looks like we are going to see the phone at MWC or after that. The Xiaomi Mi 7 is most probably not launching at the Mobile World Congress, but we know that in a month or two, it is launching.
Last year, the Mi 6 was undoubtedly one of the best flagships with high-end specs and lesser price than most of the premium phones. Recently, some firmware files of the phone have leaked and digging further into them revealed a few major features of the phone. First, it runs on Android Oreo out of the box with the MIUI 9 skin on top, and there is the high-end Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood. Let’s come to the main highlight. The Xiaomi Mi 7 is coming with an OLED display as per the firmware files. Another interesting thing is that the phone is coming with an Always on Display feature that we have seen in a lot of phones in the past like Pixel 2 etc.
The AOD feature was mentioned in the MIUI Keyguard app when the developers decompiled it. The AOD will show the date, battery level, time and up to 3 notification badges. And just like last year, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is coming with a set of two cameras on the rear, as per the firmware files. Some other features include Dual SIM, IR Blaster, Real Time Bokeh, EIS, Audio Tech from Dirac, NFC, etc. Lastly, the battery size is 3,170mAh which is pretty average but looking at how power efficient Snapdragon 845 is; this will be enough to last a full day.
