The Xiaomi Mi 5S is promised to be one of the most powerful handsets of the manufacturer with an outstanding key features. Among them we can mention the dual camera module carrying Samsung brand and an advanced pressure sensitive display. If the first feature doesn’t cause many questions (the only confusion is related with the presence of dual OIS), the latter sounded like something we have not heard about before. I even remember there were some assumptions about 3D Touch feature to be on the Mi 5S and Mi Note 2. Now it’s the right time to announce the Mi 5S will support Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. We have heard about this earlier, but now this statement was made by Wang Yang, a director of Chinese studies at IHS Technology.
The Xiaomi Mi 5S sports many astonishing features that will provide great popularity for the phone, but the manufacturer to come in with a handset packed with all the latest innovations. The Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is one of them. The latter uses images to determine the contours to create 3D information about the user’s fingerprint thanks to ultrasonic waves. But this is not the most attractive part of this technology – the sensor works via a bunch of different materials such steel, sapphire, glass, and some plastics. This simply means you can put your finger anywhere on your device instead of a dedicated area. As for the Xiaomi Mi 5S, the sensor is hidden under the glass. Thus we are dealing with the first ‘under glass’ fingerprint scanner smartphone in the world.
When the Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint scanner was announced earlier this year at CES, the first device to come with was said to be LeTV Le Max Pro. Now it turns out, the latter won’t be alone in this niche – the Xiaomi Mi 5S will be there as well. This handset also features Qualcomm 821 latest processor, Adreno 530 GPU, a screen at a resolution 1920×1080 pixels and Android 6.0.1. So how much will you pay for such a handset? It’s rumored the Xiaomi Mi 5S will cost $447.
