What better way to reward loyal fans that bring them latest updates when available? That seems to be what Xiaomi is doing as the company has indicated that it would start rolling out the Android Nougat-based MIUI 8 China Alpha ROM next week. This is an Alpha ROM for test purposes only so its perhaps still a bit long way before we actually see the final product.
The present crop of MIUI 8 is based on Android Marshmallow but Google had announced the Android Nougat in May and it had started hitting select smartphones since August. Now Xiaomi users can get to feel the overhaul and fire power the latest OS brings to the table very soon. For now, the company is still recruiting Alpha testers who are ready to try the Android Nougat-based MIUI 8 on their Mi 5 smartphones.
For the avoidance of doubt, this is the MIUI 8 China Alpha ROM but the company has said that it would begin recruiting testers for the MIUI 8 Global ROM next week. The testers would use the operating system and report bugs and other hitches when spotted. So expect lots of bugs and snags here and there on this one.
