Xiaomi today announced that it is slashing the price of its flagship Mi 5 in India by Rs.2,000. The smartphone can now be purchased in India for just Rs.22,999, which is less than half of what most flagship smartphones cost in India.
Xiaomi only sells the base 32GB variant of the Mi 5 in India, powered by a slightly underclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC inside. However, despite the slightly less powerful SoC, the Mi 5 is definitely a very attractive smartphone at its new price point, being a level above every other smartphone available in its price range in the Indian market.
The Mi 5 features a 5.15-inch 1080p IPS display with curved 3D Ceramic glass, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, 16MP rear camera with PDAF and 4-axis OIS, 4MP selfie camera, 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, fingerprint scanner, 4G LTE with VoLTE, USB Type-C port, and all other modern connectivity features.
