Platinum Games’ Scalebound, which was set to be exclusive to the Xbox One and PC, has been cancelled. Microsoft announced the decision on Monday, stating Microsoft Studios only decided to cancel the project after “careful deliberation.” The confirmation comes after the game’s page on Xbox.com was taken down.
We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves, and other great experiences. – Microsoft
Not much was said about Scalebound following its presence at E3 2016 and Microsoft’s latest post about its 2017 releases didn’t mention the game. The title was first revealed in 2014.
Scalebound was originally going to arrive in 2016, but it was pushed back to 2017. Although the development wasn’t necessarily going perfectly, Microsoft indicated a couple months ago that the game would still be released.
