Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 preview build that’s part of the Redstone 2 development branch, but this time, it is available only for PCs and for those enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program.

Windows 10 build 14931 doesn’t bring any new features, so it’s only focused on bug fixes and app updates, with Microsoft telling users that there are several significant improvements to preloaded apps that really make them worth a try.

Bug fixes and app updates

For example, Maps has received a major update that lets you check the traffic to home or office at any time by simply pressing the Traffic icon in the app bar.

“You will see traffic conditions to Home and Work and your most recently viewed traffic cameras so that you can stay on top of the road conditions along your route. Additionally, the Maps app now follows your system setting for theme preference for light or dark mode. And you can choose to change the map theme too!” Microsoft explains.

Furthermore, Microsoft is also highlighting the recent Skype update that makes it possible for users to send and receive SMS messages from a Windows 10 PC when Skype is configured as the default messaging app. This feature is part of the new Messaging Everywhere that should become available to users in the coming months, as Microsoft itself promised.

Starting with this build, however, Windows 10 is also offering native support for USB Audio 2.0 using an inbox class driver, but Microsoft warns that since this is just an early implementation of the driver, some features are still missing. For instance, you won’t get recording support for the time being, so only playback can be used right now.

There are several known issues in this build as well, and you can check the full changelog in the box after the jump. Windows 10 Mobile devices haven’t received this new build, but Microsoft is working on it and an update could be released next week.
