Microsoft’s Windows VP, Joe Belfiore, says Windows 10 Mobile is no longer a “focus” for the company. Although there will still be updates, particularly for security, new features and hardware for the platform “aren’t the focus.” The primary reason for this shift is that it’s not a very popular mobile OS, which Microsoft believes is the result of a lack of developer support.

Third-party developers mainly make applications for iOS and Android, which are vastly more popular. As a result, Windows 10 Mobile has never really been able to gain traction and continuing to invest in building the platform makes less sense.
