Windows 10 build 16188 for PCs released with new dedicated settings…

284

Last week, Microsoft released a major new feature in Windows 10 for Windows Insiders: My People. Today, the company is rolling out Windows 10 Build 16188 to Insiders in the Fast Ring. But don’t get too excited, this build isn’t as huge as the build from last week (16184). Microsoft is also releasing build 15210 for Mobile devices, but that’s not too huge and only includes 2 minor fixes.

First things first, Cortana finally has a dedicated settings page in the Settings app. Previously, users would need to configure Cortana’s settings from the settings page in Cortana itself — but now, all of Cortana’s settings can be configured from the Settings app which was a much-needed change. This simply makes it easier to configure Cortana as it no longer has its setting separated from all of the other settings in Windows 10. Another neat change in the Settings app: the Windows Insider Program’s section now has a Ninjacat icon!

Microsoft is also adding a bunch of improvements to the PDF viewer in Windows 10 with the release of build 16188. Edge now lets you fill forms in PDF files, annotate over PDF files using the Web Note feature, and it also now has a Table of Contents feature that will let you navigate your PDF files much more easily.

The update also includes Windows Defender Application Guard — a feature that was supposed to arrive with the Creators Update. Using the Windows Defender Application Guard in Microsoft Edge, Windows 10 Enterprise users will get the “maximum level of protection” from malware which sounds like a very useful security feature.

There are a number of other minor improvements in the latest build of Windows 10, and you can try them out today if you are a Windows Insider in the Fast Ring.
