Smartphone screens get bigger and bigger. Even Xiaomi can’t ignore this trend. Look at the latest additions to its portfolio and you’ll see bigger screen handsets are more demanded. However, this doesn’t mean absolutely all smartphone users want big-screen devices. There is a large number of customers obsessed with a 5-inch display. Generally, it’s considered smartphones with displays at 4.7 – 5 inches are the best option. That’s why many suppliers try to make these displays more popular due to better resolution and pixel density. To prove my words I want you to get acquainted with the newly announced JDI screen at 5 inches with great specifications.
The Japanese manufacturer, JDI has announced that a new 5-inch IPS display is in a mass production. Probably no one pays attention to this statement, but it’s said the new JDI screen comes with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 (2K), 580ppi pixel density, new IPS-Neo technology, brightness of 500cd / m2, contrast ratio of 1500: 1, and covering 96% NTSC color gamut. Plus, the panel also supports the second generation of in-cell touch technology dubbed as the Pixel Eyes. Therefore, wet hand operation is not a problem anymore.
As you see, the JDI screens at 2K resolution can become a selling point for many smartphones. Unfortunately, there is no word on which smartphone makers will use this display in their products, but something hints me Xiaomi will be in the list. The main reason for such an assumption is related with the fact Xiaomi should keep designing better and better devices otherwise it will lose the level the company has reached to. So what if the Chinese Apple has ordered the JDI screens for its next flagship. I mean, it’s quite expected the Xiaomi Mi 6 or the smaller version of the Xiaomi Mi Mix will be packed with these screens.
