WhatsApp is going to offer its own account verification system, letting users see when an account on the platform has been verified as legitimate. The messaging app has confirmed it’s testing a Twitter-like verification tick to help people spot legitimate business accounts for customer service purposes.
Companies that are verified through this system can set up working hours, away messages, and automatic responses to certain questions.
Official documents, such as bank statements, are used to verify the identity of an account holder. Only a small set of companies have access to the feature right now, but that’ll change.
