Google-owned Waze has partnered with RapidSOS, an emergency tech company, to give drivers and first-responders data about accidents. Live data crowdsourced from Waze users will be available to 911 centers already connected to RapidSOS’ services.
The app pulls on accident reports from users to improve the driving experience, but now it could also help emergency responders. They could end up responding faster and they could show up on the scene with more information.
Waze’s partnership with RapidSOS follows another announcement earlier this month in which it revealed its work with the Emergency Number Association. The deal involves enabling faster responses by emergency personnel in Europe.
