Apple’s iPhone has a big influence in China, and we’re not talking about customers in general, but handset makers seem to “borrow” from the smartphone’s design for their own products.
Vivo, the Chinese company that previously introduced world’s first smartphone to pack 6GB RAM, is about to announce two new powerful handsets, the X9 and X9 Plus.
Both phones are expected to be unveiled on November 17, as the company confirmed less than a week ago. Although we doubt that these Vivo smartphones will be officially launched in other countries but China, we did find them newsworthy since their design has been undeniably copied from Apple’s iPhone.
One of the many reasons that some Chinese handset makers are afraid to launch their products in other countries is fear of being sued for infringing on patents. Vivo’s upcoming X9 and X9 Plus might look awesome in pictures, but they might also strongly resemble Apple’s iPhone.
The first press renders of the smartphones recently leaked in China via Weibo, along with a teaser that confirms both will be announced on November 17. While there’s still plenty of time to learn everything about Vivo’s X9 and X9 Plus, some of their specs have already been leaked.
So, the main highlight of both devices will be the dual-camera setup on the front (yes, not on the back). Vivo X9 and X9 Plus are supposed to pack a 20-megapixel camera in the front, alongside a secondary 8-megapixel one. There’s no word on the actual main camera from the back of the smartphones though.
On the inside, the Vivo X9 is said to feature an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Both phones will offer USB Type-C support and, possibly, fingerprint sensor integration under the Home button.
Obviously, they will come with Android pre-installed, but we’re not yet aware of the version Vivo will choose to included on its upcoming smartphones.
