Verizon has announced it’ll release a piece of software called AppFlash to subscribers with Android devices “in the coming weeks.” AppFlash is basically spyware and it’ll track what users are installing, with that data potentially then being sold to third-party advertisers.
AppFlash is an app launcher and web search utility. It can track things like app installs, some device info, and your location.
Its privacy policy confirms this information will be used for advertising purposes.
AppFlash information may be shared within the Verizon family of companies, including companies like AOL who may use it to help provide more relevant advertising within the AppFlash experiences and in other places, including non-Verizon sites, services and devices. – Verizon
