Verizon Launches LG Watch Sport and Wear24 Smartwatches

Following in AT&T’s footsteps, Verizon announced it will carry the LG Watch Sport as well, which will be launched alongside another Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch, the Wear24.

According to Verizon, LG Watch Sport will be available for purchase starting February 10 for $329.99 with new two-year activation. On the other hand, the Wear24 will cost only $299.99 with new two-year activation.

Moreover, customers can add either of the two smartwatches to an existing Verizon Plan for $5 monthly access, plus taxes and fees.

Although the LG Watch Sport will go on sale in just a few days, Verizon’s own Wear24 might not be available until sometime next month. Big Red hasn’t offered too many details about its first smartwatch.

The good news is we’ve learned that Wear24 will sport a 1.38-inch AMOLED display with 480 x 480 pixels resolution, just like the LG Watch Sport.

It will be powered by a 450mAh battery, similar to that of the LG Watch Sport. In fact it looks like the Wear24’s specs sheet contains many of the components included in the LG Watch Sport, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE and NFC (Near Field Communication) support.

Verizon also claims the Wear24 has been IP67 certified, so the smartwatch should be water resistant to withstand being submerged in up to 3.3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.

Everything that we’ve mentioned about the Wear24 applies to the LG Watch Sport too. It’s got the same 1.38-inch plastic OLED display and all the connectivity features listed above.

On the inside, the LG Watch Sport features a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 768MB RAM, and 4GB storage. A plethora of sensors are stuffed inside LG’s smartwatch such as accelerometer, ambient light, barometer, gyroscope and hear rate sensor.

Also, the LG Watch Sport’s stylish rotating crown is a watch feature that many are familiar with and makes it easy to navigate through menus, raise and lower the volume and zoom in and out.
