Valve Removes 40,000 Cheating Accounts After Summer Sal…

252

Valve banned more than 40,000 Steam accounts shortly after the Steam Summer Sale ended, setting a new record for banning on the platform. Those bans resulted in thousands of people losing their games, items, and sometimes their entire accounts.

All of the bans were in response to Valve’s Anti-Cheat (VAC) system flagging the activity of the accounts as suspicious.

Valve’s prior record for banning stood at 15,227 and that was set in 2016.

Typically the VAC system only issues 3,500 suspensions daily, yet that grew to 30,000 just during the early part of July 6.
