Pure-play wafer foundry United Microelectronics (UMC) saw its November revenues hit a 3-month high, whereas Vanguard International Semiconductor’s (VIS) revenues decreased 3.8% on month.
UMC has announced consolidated revenues for November 2016 increased 0.6% sequentially and 16.2% on year to NT$12.9 billion (US$406 million). UMC’s revenues for the first 11 months of the year totaled NT$135.31 billion, up 0.9% from a year earlier.
UMC said previously the company would post shipment growth of about 5% sequentially in the fourth quarter of 2016, but also an around 5% fall in product ASPs. The forecast indicates a particularly strong fourth quarter.
Specialty IC foundry VIS has reported consolidated revenues of NT$2.17 billion for November 2016, up 21.4% on year. VIS’ cumulative 2016 revenues through November increased 9.9% from a year ago to NT$23.65 billion.
VIS expects its fourth-quarter revenues to decrease up to 3% or increase up to 1%, also bucking seasonal trends.
